Words That Deserve a Comeback

April 19, 2011

dillholeThere are certain words that, for whatever reason, have fallen out of favour with everyone save the select few.  Some of these words are deservedly forgotten and I am happy to see them go. Words such as gnarly (except if you’re Charlie Sheen, for whom this word is still an active part of everyday conversation) and zesty (unless of course you are referring to a bag of Doritos, in which case this word is perfectly acceptable).  But what about those words that deserve to be brought back? Words like wherewithal. No one, save me, says wherewithal anymore; at least not on a daily basis. Here are some other words that I want to make a comeback:

Dink, as in “Stop being a dink.”
Bunk, as in “That’s total bunk. “
Dillhole, as in “You’re such as dillhole.
Spiffy, as in “I like your spiffy hat.”
Snazzy, as in “That is one snazzy suit, Daddy-O.”
Daddy-O, see above.

Starting today I plan to try to use at least one of these words every day. Who knows, I might help to bring one of them back to the forefront of people’s tongues. Or I’ll just end up sounding like a total dillhole.

Vote (on which word deserves a comeback, not on whether or not on whether I sound like a dillhole) here:

HA! I like dillhole. I actually think I use that a lot when people driving piss me off…

dillhole is pretty awesome. If I used it when I was driving I would probably get in a lot less trouble.
