1980’s Rap, Bitches!

June 16, 2011

As promised in my post musical post last week, entitled It’s 90’s Rap, Blood Clot, I am featuring awesome rap from the 80’s. Unfortunately a lot of the stuff I planned on putting in here I can’t because what I mistakenly thought was from the late 80’s is actually from the early 90’s. Sigh. So I am am going to have to create a 90’s rap 2 next week, lest people think me a loser for leaving some very good shit out. But I digress.

Now, without further ado, here are my personal choices for the best of the 80’s:

LL Cool J, Going Back to Cali – 1989

Young MC, Bust A Move – 1989

Tone Loc, Funky Cold Medina – 1989

Public Enemy, Fight The Power – 1989

Kool Moe Dee, How Ya Like Me Now? – 1987

Run-DMC, It’s Tricky – 1986

Beastie Boys, Fight For Your Right – 1986

Slick Rick, Children’s Story – 1983

Boogie Down Productions, My Philosophy – 1988

And my Canadian selection:

Maestro Fresh Wes, Let Your Backbone Slide – 1989
