Music Monday: Ride a Cowboy

October 3, 2011

Just  a couple of weeks ago, Kelly Stone Gamble inspired me to come up with a menage of Candy Man  songs to go with my recently released short story, The Sweet Spot. Then Natalie R. Kenney commented that she loved the idea of sound tracking books. I like this sound track idea so much that I think I should match a song or two to all of the short stories in the Nauti-lust series.

So, here goes. First up is the short story The Blind Date paired with this modern classic Save a Horse [Ride a Cowboy]. A goofy song to go with a goofy heroine. Since some assflake has turned off embedding, though, I will post this pic for you instead of the video.  Video link below.

Track: Save a Horse, Ride A Cowboy

The Blind Date

Now for a little background. No, The Blind Date is not about cowboys. It is, however, about a slightly odd and very fun woman named Deborah. Deborah is bullied by her mother into meeting a blind date in the private bar of a yacht club. The moment she enters through the swinging doors of The Captain’s Daughter, she feels like she has been transported into a wild west saloon. And when she locks eyes with the hot bartender, she immediately imagines herself riding him like a mechanical bull. Her blind date quickly fizzles into an awkward state of nothingness so, with a little encouragement from the hot bartender, Deborah decides to indulge her “cowgirl” fantasy. Yee-haw!

So now that you have the background, how about a cowboy wanabe song? Here is Kid Rock, Cowboy:

(I love that song)

And that about does it for Music Monday! Have a great week, everyone.
