Old School Halloween Candies
After a gooey sweet Halloween, I am crashing from my sugar high at full speed. In fact, there is a good chance I’ll get the shakes if I even look at another miniature chocolate bar. That is why it is necessary to officially ban myself from treats until…well…I don’t want to be rash, here so let’s say…five – no – three days. Yes that should do it.
The thing is, I do not even have an excuse for buying so much candy. Kids aren’t allowed to go door to door begging for hand outs in my building. But there I was in the Shoppers Drug Mart cashing in all of my points when I saw these:
I just had to have them. Every Halloween my grandmother would fill little paper sacks with gum and candy to hand out to the neighbourhood kids (I always got two bags). And every year the same items would be in them. Chicklets, just like above, and some other things. I bet you are dying to know what else those orange and black sacks held!
Of course, we would also make these:
Yum!
Do you see how one little bag of Chicklets could open the floodgates? Once those buggers were in my cart, I could not seem to stop myself from throwing other candies in after them. Sigh. Time to hit the gym.
So cool! I remember lots of these and my personal fave was always CHUCKLES!
Chuckles look awesome! I want to try them.
Do love those Kraft caramels. They are the best. Candy corn – blech. Never could eat it and I lost my front tooth in a Sugar Daddy sucker.
Remember Milk Duds? They glued your mouth shut!
My favorite two will always be Baby Ruth and Butterfinger. Yum! I too have had my fill. No more until next Halloween!
Love Milk Duds! I’m pretty sure Baby Ruth’s are just like O’Henry’s so, love them, too! Don’t even get me started on Butterfinger deliciousness….
Wow, Kraft make candy? Who would’ve thought… Here they make Peanut Butter and Vegemite.
Kraft makes peanut butter here, too. And Mac & Cheese and other stuff. No Vegemite, though. We don’t really have that here. But I would totally try it if we did.
Candy corn, Kraft Caramels & Sugar Daddy’s, um, um, um – but you must have the candy corn with peanuts (sinful). The lady in my profile pic (my grandmother taught me how to eat it that way).
Maybe I should try that in my popcorn balls? Just mix the caramels, candy corn and peanuts all in there. I bet it would be good. Wait. And chocolate chips. Must add chocolate chips.
The Halloween bowl was full of Snickers (including the peanut butter ones) and M&Ms (the peanut ones of course). The Ghouls & Ghosts fortunately left enough for me to snack on until Thanksgiving… Okay, enough to last the next couple of days!
