Guantanamera Three Ways

January 16, 2012

During my trip to Cuba, I asked about every band I saw to play Guantanamera. Guess what? They all obliged. When I was a teenager, we would listen to the version by Wyclef Jean, with bass turned up, as we drove around the neighbourhood deciding where we were going to hang out that night. The beach? The coffee shop? D.C.’s house?

Of course, I always liked the older versions too, although I wouldn’t have blasted them in my friend’s Honda Civic.

And here is pretty much what it sounded like in Cuba when the bands performed it and everyone joined in.

Of course, this concludes another Music Monday.
