Music Monday: Kid Rock, Rapper

July 16, 2012

Hey, did you know that Kid Rock used to be a young kid hellbent on becoming a rap star? Before he was an American Badass with Bawitdaba, Cowboy and that Sheryl Crow duet, he was all about getting paid in the rap scene.

Here is an earlier song called You Don’t Know Me.

So what happened to his aspirations and hopes? Well, there were dashed by an unlikely source. What was the source, you ask? Two words; Vanilla Ice.

That’s right, Vanilla Ice hit it huge and everyone was temporarily enthralled with the rapping white boy who claimed to be a packing, shit disturbing thug from an inner city. Then the public found out he was actually a spoiled white kid from suburbia. Vanilla Ice lost all street cred and Kid Rock, being a white, young rapper was lumped into the same category as Vanilla Ice. Both burgeoning careers unravelled.  Or so the story goes.

Interesting, huh?
