Geeking Out About Made My Day
The good folks at geekingoutabout.com emailed me this weekend to let me know that my entry, The 8:15 Train, was chosen as the grand prize winner of their 50-word flash fiction competition. I am both honoured and ecstatic.
If you have a moment or two, please check out my short short story along with the other winning and posted entries. Oh hell, just check out the whole site; it is a cool place to hang out. Make sure to wish them a belated happy birthday while you were there, as this contest was held to help celebrate their one year anniversary (May 1st).
I scoured the Internet to find an image to go along with my short story and I found this one:
As part of my prize I won a copy of the ebook Fifty-Word Stories: Volume One by Tim Sevenhuysen. I am so excited to get started on this book. I hope to write a blog entry about it in the near future.
Congratulations, D.C.!
Your “The 8:15 Train” was excellent — strong use of characterization, setting, scene, and a nice twist at the end. Great work to get all that into only 50 words!
I submitted four pieces — including one about a zombie and one about alien invasion, but I guess they liked my soft side with “A Trashy Story”.
Just wanted to telly you congrats and let you know that I enjoyed your story.
Thank you and congrats to you, too. I loved A Trashy Story; it was my favourite posted submission.
There is another 50 word contest going on, if you have any that fit the noir theme. http://www.blink-ink.com/2011/04/special-noir-issue-submissions-wanted/
